This month our April deadlines for photographing spring street fashions fell smack dab in the middle of March's wintery spell. It was certainly tricky to spot soft lines and bold colour admits the layers of scarves and parade of black coats. This isn't unusual for Victoria. A simple solution to cool weather tends to be uncreative and simply practical. However, drifting up the sidewalks we spotted one stylish Street Scene example of keeping it together, whatever the weather.

We have to stop you and ask you, "How would you describe your style?"
"Today, very fall. This is a coat I picked up from Paradise (Johnson St.) last fall." (Brand: Coffee Shop, NY.)
(There is something to be said about choosing, well designed, classic quality fabrics, with a twist of some unique element - the wide mock neck collar is unusual, a perfect example.)

These lovingly worn tan boots, where are those from?
"They are Clarks, I picked them up on a trip in Europe through Scotland."

Tell us about those incredible filigree gold teardrop earrings.
"I found them at a Sterling Shoes store here in Victoria."

What is most fresh about Megan is her great golden curls - let loose to be tousled and natural. She also smartly paired her tie-waist coat with a pair of classic straight leg jeans. In the coming months, we aim to spot more skirts, sharp dress pants of all fabrics (weave/pattern/structure/lengths), and bold accessories. For spring, feel beautiful, add colour and try on something other than black or jeans as part of your fashion practice. Give it colour & go chic!
